9/26/08 - The company has discovered that some of the flight attendants who began leave in September had uniform deductions taken from their paycheck. This is inconsistent with the commitments the company made, and payroll is working on correcting the errors now (the amounts deducted will be forwarded to the flight attendants).

Please see any Inflight Supervisor for assistance.

If any male flight attendants are having issue with the collar of the new, wrinkle free shirts; please forward your name and contact information to Kevin Smith of the Uniform Committee. Kevin will be gathering your information and forwarding it on to the company, as they are looking into issues arising from these new shirts.

The Uniform Department has remodeled the fitting areas and waiting area. There is now a computer available to check your balance and to order uniform items.

Basic Uniform for New Hires. For reimbursement, you will need to submit a receipt along with an alteration slip. Both must be submitted. If you are seeking reimbursement through electronic submission, you need to read the directions carefully and follow them as stated. This is why many of you are not receiving reimbursement. New Hires- for further questions on this, please contact your AFA Uniform Committee Chair Kevin Smith.

Uniform Compliance. The Company has stated that Uniform Compliance is not being adhered to. Most complaints received are those of hair being down or in your face, dresses and skirts too short, heels being too high or shoes completely out of compliance. Remember that to wear ‘special’ shoes, that (1) you need a doctor’s note and (2) you need to wear pants. Also, ‘glow wheels’ on luggage are not acceptable. Please be sure to adhere to uniform compliance because discipline may be the next step the Company takes against you as a repeat offender.

“Inflight Update Issue #06-18 stated uniform coats may not be worn in the airport or on the aircraft. This statement is incorrect. Winter accessories (specifically earmuffs, gloves, hats or scarves) may not be worn in the airport or on the aircraft (FAM, U-14). However, "the raincoat may be worn over all uniform combination while in view of the customers." (FAM, U-19)
