According
to the Constitution and By laws governing the AFA , a union member
or service fee payer who fails to pay dues/fees in a timely manner
runs the risk of their employment being terminated.
-
If
you receive a letter from AFA concerning late dues, please take
care of this immediately. If you feel there is a
discrepancy please contact AFA membership at 1-800-424-2401 Ext. 3.
Can a non-member be in BAD STANDING?
Any flight attendant required to pay dues or service charges can be
placed into BAD STANDING.
What if I have paid for dues/service charges and I’m
still being billed?
If
you believe your dues/service charges were payroll deducted in full, you
must send a copy of the appropriate pay stub to the International
Office, Attn: Collections Coordinator. They will research the problem
and adjust the amount accordingly if appropriate, or they will
write to you and explain why you are being billed. If you paid via
personal check, AFA will need a copy of the front and back of the
canceled check to assist in tracing the payment. If a copy of the
canceled check is not available, the endorsement date, dollar amount,
and date of the check are necessary.
The Membership and Communications Chair can assist in determining what
dues/service charges are outstanding. However, the local council cannot
clear up any errors. It is your responsibility to contact AFA
International to clear up your discrepancy.
Does a member owe dues/service charges when they are on
leave?
YES -
Every flight attendant owes dues for the first three months (90 days) of
any leave of absence (except military).
I signed up for
payroll deduction of my dues. What if my dues are not being deducted
from my paycheck?
First, contact AirTran payroll to research the problem. IF they cannot
resolve the issue, contact your Membership and Communications Chair.
How can I start
payroll deduction of my dues?
You can find the form in
the Membership and Communication Chair's v-file in ATL.
I'm a new flight
attendant. When will my dues start to be deducted?
After successful
completion of probation. This is typically after six months of
employment.
How do I change my
address or contact information?
This can be completed on
the AFA International website. Click the "change of address" link on the
right of this page.
I received a letter in the mail saying I will be
terminated if I don't’ pay my dues. What is this all about?
If you receive a letter from AFA concerning late
dues, please take care of this immediately. If you feel there is a
discrepancy please contact AFA membership at 1-800-424-2401 Ext. 3.
According to the Constitution and Bylaws governing

I never received any bills or a letter.
Check that your address is current with the AFA.
AirTran does not transmit this information to AFA International. You
can check your information on record by contacting me. If it is not
current, you can change it on AFA’s website. AFA considers all bad
standing letters as received by you even if you do not personally
receive the letter.
I lost my union pin/contract. Can I have a new one?
Yes! Just send an email to the Membership and
Communications Chair.
I want to change from a Service Fee Payer to a
Member. How does this work?
It’s easy! All you have to do is fill out the
Membership Application found in the my v-file. AFA will bill you for
a one-time initiation fee of $60. If you are an MCO or TPA flight
attendant, just ask your Virtual Base Rep for the forms
